Default how to make this flower - round fabric flower

I tried searching, but I may have over looked it.

Im wondering about the folds, to make it ruffle. Also what scissors they used. Anyone have any instructions for these?

Just use more of a fold technique then a ruffle,

A PINTUCK that is what I was thinking of.......use it a LOT on ruffle jeans

I think someone said you could do it with your sewing machine but I can't figure out how. Something about a loose stitch....anyone know how to do it with the machine?

Sure, you just make your stitch length setting longer and sew a straight line across your fabric near the edge that you want to ruffle. Make sure you leave long threads at the start and finish. You just take the threads and pull tight until you get the amount of gathering that you want.

Pinking shears make the zigzag but the worn look is probably from just using regular scissors and fraying. Pinking shears will stop the frayed look.

I'm going to have to try it with the machine tonight. I've been wanting to make one of these for some time and started with handstitching but just got bored.

Running stitch is basically (I'm going to try my best to make sense) put your needle in and pull through, come back up 1/4" farther down in the fabric pull through, go back down through the fabric 1/4" farther. Keep going until you've done length of fabric. (Measurements don't matter...just used that as an example.
