Is the customer also using a small band and clipping the alligator through the band? I find that works best.

I do stacked or bigger bows on french clips. I had a customer ask for an alligator clip on a big bow & the next week she was asking if it was possible to change it to a french. Thankfully I could change it easily for her.

I put a small rubberband in my daughter's hair and then put the big bow in, otherwise it does fall out. her hair is thin though and a french clip wouldn't stay. I would give your customer that tip and see if it works

I've done a few of my bigger ones on the mini french barettes. I've also suggested what the other ladies said, have them secure the hair in a hairband first and use the clip above the band, that's the way my goddaughter has to do it she has super thick hair.

I do the same thing. Tell her to get the thin clear rubber bands, they work amazing in my daughter's thick, curly hair hair.

I agree, thick or thin, teensy rubber bands are the way to go! I don't think it matters as far as color, though... the bow will cover it up. It's the only way I can keep dd's bangs out of her eyes, and the bow just makes it look prettier.
