Default Flip Flops

Just wondering what you ladies were using to glue the ribbon around the bottom of the flipflop. I have tried double sided tape, hot glue and e6000. Nothing seems to be working well enough for me to feel comfortable selling them to someone. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I am pretty sure most girls on here use the E6000 and have no problems with it. I use it too and am happy with it You need to wait I think 24 hours for the glue to set.. maybe that's why you don't think it's sticking good enough??

The problem I have with the e6000 is there is what do I use to hold the ribbon on for the first few hours. I usually can use and alligator clip when to clamp when I am gluing smaller things. What do you use for a clamp on the bottom of the flip flop. Does that make sense?

I do mine by adding a small dot of hot glue right along the e6000, that way the hot glue dries holding the ribbon in place till the e6000 dries.

I love the look but I haven't tried it because with the way my little girls wear flip flops I'm sure it would come off!! But I'd think you could stick a few straight pins through the ribbon into the flip flop & just remove those when it's fully dry & attached.

Now I'm gonna have to try it!!

I use the e6000 and use alligator clips to keep the ribbon from moving. I let the flops sit for about 24 hours. They stay put after that. When I attach the bows I have to use clothes pins on each side of the bows and it works great for me.

I have made a bundle of them this year.. So far.. have used double sided tape and E600, even though I hate the fact that I am sacraficing my liver for this. Here is what I have discovered.

1- They must cure for 24 hours (not in your house either). Keep those fumes away from your family.

2- I am not that hard on flips. Double sided tape works well for me, however my twin grandaughters can "tear up some shoes".. the hot glue does not work for them for sure. This year I glued rhinestones (E600) on the top of the bands. No ribbon to be torn off.

3- I am doing the raggie bows on some, charms on some, (steering away from the ribbon wrap. I think it looks cheap and will come off. My opinion only after last year. You can do a few ribbon ties (like the raggie bows_ with some embellishments and charms and get a better effect with no ribbon wrapping.

I have sold about 80 pairs of Easter Flips to friends and families and craft mall. I hope they hold up. Will know more later. ( I will post some pics tomorrow as I have alot that we have worked up in the last couple of days). I am leaving a bin in my car as we wear the ones we make and have tons of compliments (so I go get my bin, thus saving fees. Crazy.. but it sells. I have had so many people say (do you have a website.. (nope.. got the domain name and the biz cards, but no website yet. My grandaughter can hopefully come this weekend to get my site up.

I forgot.. I use tiny wooden clothes pins that I can't remember where I got them.. They really help keep all the embellishments in place a few mins until the start to set. I use the bigger pins on the ones that are too big for the tiny clips. My neice and I usually make about 20-25 pairs at at time so I need more pins, because I am removing them from the first ones made to the last ones made... "Don't be so cheap Aunt Tish.. buy some more pins"
