I bought a bunch of Tulle from BBCrafts. Great price but it was not very soft. In fact, I made a Black tutu and it felt like sandpaper and I trashed it. I won't buy from there again.

I know this thread is old, but I want to know what you mean you use 32 triple layer strips (do you mean 3 strips at a time to tie it)? Sorry, haven't had morning java.

I am LOVIN making tutus!

Yes! 3 strips at a time to tie it.

I don't use a cookie sheet... but I wrap my tulle around a book and then make one cut..

I Get all my tulle from Angel baby tutus, I've tried 4 or 5 other places and her's is by far the softest tulle I've ever used. Also, be carefully using Favorfranzy, I've had problems multiple times when it comes to getting them to ship me any back ordered tulle. As far as the time goes, I can actually do a sewn tutu faster then I can a tied one, pluse I personally think sewn tut's hold up better in the long run...

Can I ask, what is the double knot method? Is it just tying the tulle onto the elastic/ribbon and then knotting twice? or once in the back, once in front? I have only made one tutu and I did the slip knot, but if there is another way that's faster and looks good I'll give it a try, I need to make two tutus for the 4th!

Can you tell me where a good tutorial is for a sewn Tutu? when I get my new machine I might want to try. I know there are many out there, but not all are created equal.
