Default Attaching Alligator Clips to Bows

I have a question... When I'm attaching my alligator clips to my bows, I line the clip like you would normal clippies, then I glue the "unlined" side to the back of the bow. My finished product has the "lined" side of the clippie showing when you look directly at the back. Is this how it's supposed to be? I am gluing the bow (boutique, pinwheel) to the flat unlined side of the clippie. Thanks so much for your help!

I semi line the clip, from the start of the pinch clip ( angled side to end of the flat part of the clip leaving about 1.5" of ribbon before cutting, I attached the ribbon cover side to the bow attatch my ribbon centre and then cover the ribbon centre ends with the spare 1.5" of ribbon. Therefore the pinch clip and the part attatched to the bow are covered.
I leave the part of the clip that is going through the hair uncovered as it slides through the hair better.

I'll try and find a pic to post!
