Default Center of bow question

when choosing the center of your bow do you go down one ribbon size from the bow size? IE, if you make a bow with 7/8 does your center use 5/8? does it make any difference if it is a plain center or a knotted center?

For me, if I'm making a straight center, I always use 3/8 inch ribbon. And if I'm making a knotted center then I use 5/8 inch ribbon for bows made with 1.5, 7/8, even 5/8 ribbon. For a bow made with 3/8 inch ribbon, I use 3/8 ribbon for a knotted center.

I have used 7/8 inch ribbon for a knotted center for a big bow too, but it tends to get bulky underneath the clip, kwim?

I always use 3/8. I like the smaller look, but all my bows are 4" and smaller.

i always use 3/8 no matter what size ribbon i am using unless the customer asks for something different! i also prefer a knotted center unless i am putting something as a center then no knot, unless it is a bottlecap then i knot it because it gives it more to grab on to. does that make sence???

same. most of the time i knot my 3/8 for the middle of my bows. i think it gives it something a little extra with the little knot in the center. instead of just looping it around

when i knot 3/8 ribbon for the center of a 7/8 bow i feel that the knot looks too tiny.
I dont have a lot of colors in 5/8 and when i use 7/8 there is A lot of bulk on the sides ...

anyone else have any advice here?
