Default quick Korker ?

Do you have to use a certain width ribbon for korkers? I've made a few using 3/8, but wonder if I could use wider ribbon. I have different size dowels, maybe if I used a wider dowel for wider ribbon? I'd like to try some 5/8, 7/8, and 1 inch ribbons. They are just sitting here because I can NOT make a bow with skinny ribbon for some reason. Any tips, suggestions?

I haven't done it myself but I've read here that someone used to make korkers with 5/8 ribbon, and used a dowel rod one size larger than she did for 3/8. You can search the threads for it. I have a hard time picturing it working very well with 7/8 or 1.5 - the rods would have to be really big to get a spiral curl. I make korkers with 3/8 (using a 1/4" diameter rod) and 1/4 (using a 3/16" diameter rod) and occaisionally 1/8 (using a bamboo kitchen skewer) myself. What rod size are you using?

I did one with 5/8" taffeta and I thought it looked very cute. I used the same size dowel that I use the 3/8" ribbon on. Here is a picture of the 5/8"

Wow! That is really pretty!! What length did you cut the korkers (the usual 3" or more)?

I have 3/16 and some that look a bit smaller that I usually use (don't know size for sure) and some that are bigger.
