There was a thread a while back where one of the members mentioned she used color books for some of her designs. I thought it was a fabulous idea, sorry I can't remember the name of the member, but it is a great idea.
I use my cricut to cut out patterns too. I usually cut out the pattern on card stock then transfer onto material. I just find it easier this way than trying to cut the material with the cricut.

You can google "free templates" or "free appliques", something like that (I can't remember exactly what I typed in to search) and you'll find websites that offer free templates. There are lots out there!

I saw one the other day that you should do! One had a Pea Pod the other a carrot, Pea's & Carrots! Sooo cute Twin Set
I use my cricut to cut out my appliques but you can also print out an image on paper then use as a template to cut out the image...Use heat n' bond (or something to that effect) and be sure to use a heavy weight tear away interfacing on the inside of the onesie or the machine will just eat the onesie...
I do all of my onesies free-hand on a regular sewing machine with a zig zag (applique) stitch...
Feel free to message me if you have any questions.

I use microsoft word for most of my appliques. For an inital T-shirt i just type in the letter and then scroll through the fonts to decide which one I like best and adjust the size. I also search the clipart in MS Word. Last year for easter I just typed in "rabbit" and I found a cute one, made it much bigger, appliqued it to the shirt and added a button for the eye and a little bow between the ears.

I found this site the other day: http://www.freeapplique.com/. They have pretty cute stuff. I'm starting to do onesies and tshirts and was looking for some cute FREE applique templates.
