Default problem with rhinestones in bottlecaps

I have been making bottle caps for a long time now and have had this same problem for quite some time. Often I add flat rhinestons to my designs using Superglue. Once dry, I pour the ET Lite over the image to set. Each time, the rhinestone disintegrates flattening out to just a colored dot looking like colored foil.

Has anyone else had this problem? I emailed ET's manufacturer but got a message back from a rep saying that is wasn't disintegrating and that the "coating over the facets eliminates the light refraction" and it was still there - but it isn't, I can see it isn't.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks.
Julie

I set mine in the resin or top coat when it has set up a little. I use a long nose pair of tweezers to set it and barely push it into the material. It stays put but and doesn't cover it all the way.

I have had the same problem - and it is the glaze building up over the facets. It makes it look like a flat disc instead of jewel. Are you making them on the inside of the caps? I put on my jewels after I coat the images with modge podge and then coat over the hole thing with ET. Trying doing some without as much glaze and I'm sure they will turn out right.

Thanks.
I actually don't use modge podge. I glue in my images w/E6000, stick on the jewel w/Superglue and then pour the ET Lite over the whole thing.

Do you think I need to use modge podge instead or do you think I just need less resin?

I put the glaze over and then when it is a bit dry but not all the way dry, I add the bling so it is not covered by the glaze but is only partially in the glaze

I let my ET Lite dry completely and then add the rhinestones with E6000. Works perfectly.

What size crystals or rhinestones do you use? I read hot fix crystals are the best????
