Default Covering a Headband with Ribbon

I am making some ribbon covered headbands with a boutique bow attached to the top and I was wondering... Does anyone else struggle with wrapping the ribbon around the headband? When I wrap the headband with the ribbon, even when I wrap it at an angle, when I'm finished there are "bumps" throughout the headband. The ribbon bubbles where it overlaps in places because how the headband is shaped, it's very difficult for the ribbon to remain smooth until I get to the end of the headband. Does anyone have any advice or is it supposed to look like that? I'm using 5/8 inch ribbon on 1/2 and 1 inch headbands.

Here's a picture of the headband so far. Notice the little bubbles or lumps in the ribbon...

Hi, i use 3/8 in. when wrapping my headbands. I've never used the 5/8 so i'm not sure what will help with the bumping up. If you use the 3/8 i would make sure to keep it tight as you go around and then pull, not overlapping as much as you did with the 5/8. I also put some double sided tape on the inside of my headband to help keep it in place. HTH

When wrapping mine I line the inside with double sided tape, pull the ribbon nice and tight and I also don't overlap I just put the edges against each other snuggly. The tape keeps the ribbon in place so you don't have to worry about gaps in between. I hope that is easy to understand! HTH!

Have you tried using 7/8" ribbon. Fewer times for the ribbon to go around, fewer times for lumps!!

Thanks so much for all of your all's help! I just discovered this forum and I'm so addicted! I really appreciate the advice! Will try the double sided tape definitely!

AMEN! I cannot stand wrapping headbands so I use 7/8" because it covers faster. I'd be like this with 3/8"

I use 7/8" for wrapping. Much easier. I make sure that the next layers is in the "ditch" from the previous layer. I keep a little tension on the ribbon and dot hot glue in a couple of places on the inside edge as I wrap so it doesn't unwrap.

I use 3/8" ribbon to wrap them. I do not overlap the layers....it gives it a smooth look
