Default red korkers turning dots pink help

Hey everyone, I'm new here. So the problem is every time I make korkers with red ribbon and white swiss dots my dots come out pink. I make every other color swiss dots and there's no problem with the color bleeding. What am I doing wrong?

Hey, it's still me. Come on, there are more than enough super smart bow makers out there. I can make any other color with no problem, but the red bleeds or something. I'll try any suggestion...PLEASE

There is no way to avoid this from happening! I called the company and they said it is because they are heat set paints and when you add more heat the color of the ribbon may show through. They had even had trouble with their process and they were having the same problems with their reds. I now just use my for Valentines day!!

It happens to a lot of us. The only recommendation I can make is to turn down the heat a bit. I don't know what temperature you use, but most people bake korkers at 225-275 degrees. Try 200. You may have to bake them longer to compensate for a lower temperature (I've baked for as long as an hour without overdoing it - the ribbon isn't going to burn at such a low temperature). Also, you don't say what brand you are using but that may make a difference.

I asked that a while ago and Michelle told me what to do. Let me see if I can find the link...

Well, I can't find the post about it, but I think she told me to bake it at 225 for 20 minutes. I wrote it down somewhere I just have to find it! Give me some time and I will get it for you. Or just ask Michelle! She will tell you.

I've also had some emerald green offray swiss dot do this - the green started showing through the dots, kinda like the dots vaporized into thin air a bit or something.

I'm curious to see if anyone else can shed some light on this...

Someone is asking this same question in another group I'm in. I want to forward the answer to her (and I would like to know for my own future reference), but I can't get the link here to work. Is the message too old or something, or is it just my computer having issues? If someone can help me out I would appreciate it.

Sorry about it. The original thread was deleted. To prevent white dots turns pink, please lower the temperature and shorten the baking time.

Thanks.

The lady who is asking says she sprays them with starch before baking too. Does that help or hurt at all? With lower temp and shorter time, will they stay korked as well? She sells them and wants her customers to be happy long term. Thanks!

I have made korker bows since 1989, and have not had an issue with them bleeding. I never bake over 220 degrees, for at least 20 minutes, I've even forgot them in the oven before for several hours, they always come out perfect. I think the brand of ribbon may have something to do with it, and also what your spraying them with, and how much liquid your putting on them.
