Default Re: Do you Glue or Sew your FOE headbands?

I just got some foe and was planning on hand sewing them. I've sewed one and it turn out good.
I didn't even think of using glue so I just experimented. I glued it about 30 minutes ago and I cannot pull it apart and I'm stretching it pretty good. I'm going to be gluing from now on!

I'll still heat seal the ends but man it stinks!

Lol. I forgot to say what glue I used! I used Tacky Glue for fabric. I love this stuff. It's the Joann Craft Essentials brand. I'm sure Aleene's tacky glue for fabric is awesome too.

I just made some FOE bands for the first time and I used my high temp hot glue and it held perfect. No sewing for this mama lol, I don't mind sewing but this is just a bit faster. Anything to streamline the process. I sew ribbon on my hydrengea/elastic hands and that just takes forever.

I ahd been hand sewing mine but it took forever and I have a ton of foe. I treied the hot glue as many mentioned they do this and I loved it. IO also tried some and stretched the heck out of it anf the hold is very tight. I think this is it for me but I may try the singe too. AT least until I get a sewing machine hand sew is way too long.

So, you overwrap a little ( say 1cm) and apply hot glue?

I lay mine together as if I was going to sew them (just like the tut) and just use a bit of hot glue. The "flat" side (withough the seam) goes against the head. I only glue about 1/8" or so (I don't leave a huge flap sticking up)and then the ribbon goes around the seam (interchangeable loop) --adds some extra "hold" as well as covering up the seam)

OMG, I'm such an idiot. I've been hand sewing my FOE headbands, all while sitting next to my sewing machine. My machine would be so much faster, and I'd be less apt to sew my thumb to the headband. Not that I've ever done that. Duh!

I sit on the couch watching prime time w/ lighter, pre-cut foe pieces and pliers. Melt the ends and press w/ pliers to really meld, then I warm the seam quick qagain and press the seam flat to cover with ribbon loop. The fumes can be nasty, but, thank God spring is coming so I can open the window! My question for burners is...Do you smoosh right sides together and then flatten or do you overlap and smoosh. I can't get the overlap to hold, so I fuse right sides together and then have to do that other step to smooth.
