I think your designs are wonderful!!

Isn't that why we are all here, to learn how to make things and share our knowledge? It's not like it's a huge secret.

Hi! Im so excited to see this post and hoping someone can help me! Ive been looking for an answer to this empire waist tutu for weeks!

Ok so im attempting to make two flower girl dresses for my wedding (my budget cant afford to buy these) hence me attempting to make em

I have a handle on how to tie the top of the tutu dress, but have NO idea how to begin the empire waist. I love the look of the ribbon on the empire waist vs the knots.

This is the type of empire waist I would like to achieve.....

http://www.etsy.com/listing/64762156...ist-tutu-dress

Any help, pics, ideas, ANYTHING would be greatly appreciated!!!! Thanks

When I made a few of these for a fall show I knotted the waist and then put a ribbon around the waist and tied a bow in the back Using the knot as belt loops of a sort. I thought that this would make them fit different sizes better. Here are the Cinderella and Tinker bell dresses I made.

could you possibly use a 1.5 - 2 in crochet band and knot in the top and then weave the tulle in the bottom and knot it?

CindyH: Super adorable!!!!! buuut im trying to figure out the band on the pic of a tutu dress i found on etsy
http://www.etsy.com/listing/64762156...ist-tutu-dress

To me it looks like a weaved ribbon w no knots underneath, but it just seems like the ribbon would slip.

Oh I did find a posting the etsy seller has that says she uses 2 elastic bands.... to me it doesnt look like a second row of knots but now im thinking it must? and how in the world is she knotting a second row (if she is)?
LOL sorry for all the questions... just trying to pick someones brain who has made tutu dresses

Ok This just might be genious! I CANNOT figure out how to knot a second row for the empire waist and maybe this would work!
Im starting to think my inspiration dress does have a second row of knots, but a second elastic band is confusing the crap outta me and i cant wrap my brain around it haha

Thanks!

That tutu you picked out looks like someone's custom design. If you can't afford to purchase it, then maybe you can look online somewhere for a tutorial that can help you.

People here will help you to a degree, but most instructions here are for a basic tutu.
