take a sock and cut it at the heal and cut the toes off. turn the foot part inside out and sew up one side to make it a bit smaller. Fold it then in half with wrong sides together. Turn the ankle part of the sock inside out and put the small cuff now inside lining raw edges together. Sew around and there you have a perfect legwarmer. Not sure if that is what you are looking for but its what I do and my kids love them and so do other parents. Hope it makes sense

lilblueboo has a legging pattern. I think I paid$6.00 for it. It is different than the sock leggings. I haven't used it yet but have used 3 of her other patterns. Her stufff is super comfy and adorable. The legging pattern tells you how much stretch your knit has to have. I would love to help more but I know I can't share her ebook.

that is pretty much what I do but I take an half an ich out of the bottom to make it a little nicer around the ankles and they honestly take no time at all to make.

You can also make them out of sweaters (from the sleeves) ... those are the BEST!! Use knit fabric for the cuffs and you're set. Imagine ... cashmere leggings (if you've got a sweater that's been ruined).
