How do you make the slits??? V-Cut with woodburner?? Also on each individual spike, cutting them with the wood burner mine stick together also. What I am doing is folding the ends of my spikes and making a diagonal cut with my wood burner.

For the v-cut, you have to separate the two halves ever so slightly or they will fuse together & let it open up immediately as soon as you've sealed the edges.

For the top & bottom of the stack, I just ran my woodburner through in a straight line a few times. Each time I did, it removed a little bit of the polyester & eventually left a void. I haven't tried taking out a v notch yet.... But I imagine it would work well too.

I am talking about each individual end of the spike. I have been trying and trying and trying but they keep sticking together!!! I guess I am destined to keep my callous on my right thumb from the lighter!!!!

Fold your ribbon in half lengthwise, snip at a 45 degree angle, separate ever so slightly, and apply the barrel of your woodburner to both ends at the same time, then open back up ASAP. The key is to make sure your two sides of your dovetail are not touching or they will fuse.

Until you get the technique (it will take a bit to get...practice on some scraps) & to save your thumb get some of the lighters that click down rather then the roll type ones My hubby bought me a bunch and it was THE BEST thing

I'm loving the tip on using the woodburner, I'm a little OCD and hated when sewing my spikes would move them a little.. I hadn't done many of these bows as they seemed to take me forever, made one on Friday and it was so much simpler, I came up with 6 new styles!!!! LOVE LOVE LOVE this forum, for people sharing their tips & tricks, thank you so much Now off to try the V cuts..

Aaah! Now I see the problem - I was trying to use my woodburner to cut the ribbon, not just heat seal it!!
