It really depends on my mood. Sometimes I sew my spikes together, and others, I will glue them (lightly) then tie so they have a crease. I dont use a wood burner at all. On cuting my spikes, I simply fold the ribbon in half, cut the V and then heat seal with a lighter.

Thank you!!!
I do the v-cuts, I mean the dovetails with the woodburner and a t-square-the metal rulers with the angles-precise everytime and fast.
The notching idea is great for the center! I can see that working really well to hold everything in place! TFS

Get the metal triangular rulers that they have at craft stores in the area where the doll houses are. Or you can do a search on ebay for an Exacto metal triangular ruler or just metal triangular ruler. They are like 2". I use one to do my "v" cuts/dovetails.

I lay mine out 2 by 2 and fuse them together with 2-3 pokes of my wood burner. If I use 5/8" ribbon, I don't have to crease them. If I use 7/8" ribbon, I then stick them in my Gator Bite and tie off. I have to do this on 7/8" otherwise they show where I don't want them to behind my twisted.

Wow! I've never thought about doing that. I always wonder how some people get their spikes to look so "straight up and down" (if that makes sense) in the center of their bows. I bet that would work.

Spikes definetely can be tricky and time consuming... I cut all of my strips and do my dove tails with scissors ( takes forever) and I sew them in the middle(sometimes it leaves a bump though and makes the bow that rest on top uneven?? I have a wood burner, but I cant figure out what to do with it.. which parts to use and how??
