Default Ribbon artists ... is it hard to do?

Is ribbon art hard to do? Is it really time consuming?? Like hours and hours?

I totally LOVE the Princess ones ... I am amazed at what you artists can do with ribbon!!

I'd like to learn how to do it, but I don't always have a lot of patience for small things. LOL

Your thoughts?

Patience...yes...patience is a big thing...I make sculptures with lots of TINY features so tweezers and bright lights are a must. I do mine at nite cuz my 2 yr old will NOT let me play with ribbon sculptures cuz he wants to help ! LOL.

I think besides woven headbands, the ribbon sculptures are my favs. They're just soooo cute and individual. It does take time, but with lots of practice and time you get a little faster. I don't sit down and make just one. If I'm doing ladybugs I do like 20-25 at a time, I cut our all my pieces, line my clips and then construct. Last time I did that man y I think it took a couple of hours including carding them, so I think that's pretty good. I also charge a little more than some people for mine-I usually don't go below $5.00~used to be no less than $6.00 but tough times were slowing sales and for the REALLY extravgant ones with bling and buttons I ask $7.

they are my favorite thing to do! I love making people I definitely would say that patience is a must. But I wouldn't say they are hard to do. Designing a new one can take some hours because I keep changing things. But once I have the measurments and techniques figured out, I can make them quicker, I'd say some smaller simpler ones I can do in 20min, but some will take me a lot longer, like the Mary Poppins takes me quite a bit longer for some reason. If I have many to make, I do them in stages and take breaks. Though I probably wouldn't need as many breaks if I didn't have kids and a dog running around interupting me all the time LOL!

I know that I don't have the patience for these. Kudos for those that make the complicated figures.

Yes you do need patience but for me they are a stress reliever..and i get soo concentrated in the details that I forget about everything else so I realy enjoy it...you do get faster with practice but the only way you will know is trying one for yourself I would say start with a simple one and leave princesses for later.

Punky n`munky up here has super great instructions for these i started with hers and she was an inspiration for me

I enjoy making them. The hardest ones I make are the princess sculpture. I love all the little one that are 3 small pieces of ribbon that make something really cool.

I have only done the Christmas Tree. I don't have much patience these days with infant twins but hopefully I can do more soon. It's lots of fun!
