Default Question about center of clip

I have a question... how do you make your center of your bow.. do you use hot glue and line it to the inside of your clip? ( i find that extremely difficult and tend to burn myself doing it that way.. then my ribbon is usually too long and then i burn myself using the lighter to seal the end after cutting it?

Can't I just put the center on and wrap it around the bow itself and then glue the bow itself to the lined clip? Basically as two seperate parts?

Also for those of you that use tape can you use the tape to do either of these options? or is the tape not solid enough(permanent enough)

You definately want to glue the center knot with hot glue if you sell ur bows and the ends of the ribbon onto the clip. They last alot longer. U just have to be careful and it doesn't take a big glob of glue because u tend to have a lot of overflow. HTH

I don't think I'd use tape for the centers either as it won't be as secure. Tape works GREAT for ribbon scuplutues and lining clips, but that's all I use it for...

What I do is first glue the unfinished bow to a lined clip. Then I take my 3/8 ribbon and glue one side underneath the clip. Next, I wrap it around the bow and try to gauge where it will end and then I cut and heat seal it. Finally, I add a dot of glue on the clip and bring the finished ribbon around pressing down in a rocking motion. I find that the rocking motion helps to spread the glue to the end of the ribbon so there are no unglued flaps on the edges.

If I am using a knotted center: first, glue unfinished bow to lined clip. Then I glue knotted center to the top of the bow. Then measure, cut, and heat seal the ends as above before gluing.

I never burn myself with this method and it always comes out neat and clean (no excess glue).

If you want pics, I'd be happy to make a mini tut of this process. Jlmk.
