I make the double or single loop bows and I sew the bands unto the bows, that way the bow doesn't come off leaving it on the ground for chewing etc. What type of bow are you going to make for her? If it's a simple grooming bow I still would sew it on, I've seen where they wrap it around the ribbon but I'm not comfortable because of the what if's on dogs, they always like to chew no matter what, if it's a puppy I would use 5/8 ribbon. You ladies are way more experience than myself making bows for kids and I bet you could make some really cute pet bows with the technics you know!

it's for a shih tsu
I noticed on that site you recommended for bands that they mentioned they put multiple bands on each bow (?) Is that in case one band breaks? Or do you wrap more than one at a time?

Yes, I always put 2 bands on my bows in case I'm at a show and a band breaks. There are those that use both on yorkies since you have to fold over the topknot but I don't. Also, I use a medium weight band for bows but for every day use of just pulling the hair back, I use light weight, less breakage of the hair and great if you want to do little pigtails

I'm doing dog bows as well. I go to Sally Beauty and get the latex bands that don't break the hair. I also put 2 bands on each bow, in case one breaks.

I would recommend on your next order to check out laineeltd.com aka the color coordinated canine!!! I'm in the dog bow business so I hope that helps! I prefer medium which are 5/16 and I prefer the medium weight. Precious puppy!!
