Default am i not sealing correctly? and what clips do you use?

i seal with a lighter but for some reason my ribbon frays after a while... (after its already placed onto a clip... am i not sealing ENOUGH? cuz to me when i do it it seems sealed..

also, what clips do you use? where do you buy them from? alligator clips from sallys? alligator clips WITH teeth? ( i find those a lot harder to line and it doesnt look nearly as neat)... mine would be for an 8 month old

I would say you are not sealing them enough, I use a lighter or woodburner depending on what I am sealing. I have never had an issue of fraying afterward.

I get my clips from hair parts. You can also get them from sally's or hobby lobby(but HL is a bit $$$)

I have never used the clips teeth. I do use a no slip (shelf liner, but there are lots of options out there!)

I use the alligator clips from Sally's with the loctite silicone adhesive as a slip grip.. I agree, you might not be sealing enough.

I use Sally's clips. I never having a fraying issue after sealing so try sealing a bit more. I usually can see the edge "melt" & then I know it's sealed.

When you heat your ribbon you will feel a tiny ridge across the edge. If you can feel that ridge (let it cool before you touch it) then you have sealed them enough. Be careful not to over heat, that melts the ribbon.

If you make bows for personal use then buying from Sally, Hobby Lobby or any local store is fine. If you make them to sell, I find that to be more costly. You can order in bulk from almost any bow or ribbon site.

I haven't had any success with the "no slip". Can't find one that really works for me. Good luck

Sally is probably your best bet on clips unless you plan on buying in bulk. I use the Double prong clips from Sally's (not the multi purpose ones) and use Duck It! for a no slip grip.
I'd say you're not heat sealing enough. After the edge is sealed, it should have a hard "plastic" lip along the edges. HTH
