Default Pillowcase dress question

I am thinking of making some pillowcase dresses and I was wondering where in the world do you find cute pillowcases to make them with? All I'm finding are plain solid ones. Or do you just use fabric?

You can do either. I've only used the actual pillowcases so far, and I was lucky enough to receive some of my grandmother's old vintage ones. But I know you can look on Etsy under "supplies" or "vintage" or even thrift stores. You could always take a plain white one (or solid color) and embellish the hem with a pretty trim to dress it up. i actually use fabric and i used a pillow case as a guide. i will look real quick for the tut that i used. But fabric works you just have to hem the bottom and sew up the side. at least with fabric you have a lot of choices!!

I use regular fabric! Here are some that I made recently - just to give you an idea!

I think maybe the original idea was to use pillowcases, but I think it has evolved around to using your choice of fabric. We have never made them with an actual pillowcase. I have seen the actual pillowcase used, like the others are talking about, your grandmothers vintage pillowcases. They are pretty but I think I like the cute look more. You know like the pink fabric with black dots, or brown and pink fabric or whatever you choose. Then use a color coordinated ribbon for the ties. Just my opinion. I've seen some really cute ones out there.
