Even though the button covers the front of the reel the back is still visible. So color is a factor!

I am so ignorant with buttons too. LOL I'd LOVE to learn to cover buttons and the badge reels. Can you tell me what I need to get for a button cover? I'm going to Joann's and Michael's tomorrow so I can pick one up. I just have no idea what to get! LOL Thanks!
I don't know if you have a Hancock Fabrics by you but I just got a covered button kit for 1/2 off this weekend...I think they are still on sale. I will need to eventually get more buttons but thought this would be a start.

Ah ha I see what you mean about the colors. I would think that white and black would be generic enough for now.

I do have a hancock's and I can go by there tomorrow if I need to.

To cover the buttons with fabric, do you just hot glue the fabric around it to the back and then push it down on top of the button. I'm sorry if that doesn't make sense.

HTH - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R3LDkEkNm2U

Instead of using hot glue I use spray adhesive - it works great!!!

Thanks! I just read the tutorial on Girlythingsbows.com on how to cover a button with the button kit. Do you cover the button and then glue the button onto the badge reel? Or do you actually cover the badge real with fabric and not use a button?

There are normally 2 different size buttons used for badge reels. One size covers the whole front of the reel, and the other is the same size as the reel. Etsy has tons of different types of badge reels if you'd like to get some ideas .... if there is a shank on the back of the button you need to remove that, put the fabric on your button and then use e6000 glue to attach to the reel. They are super easy to make and very addicting lol.
