Default Is this a total NO NO?

My ribbon supply is pretty limited. I am pretty new to this bow making thing - and also I want to spend a ton of money at one time (I've been selling things and then using that money to buy more supplies).
So my problem is that I have a decent variety of 7/8" colors, but don't have 3/8" matching colors.
Would it be totally horrible to cut the 7/8" and heat seal it to use for the french knot centers and lining alligator clips???

Just fold it in half and tie your knot, works the same.

I don't know about lining clips with cut and sealed ribbon, IMHO, they won't look professional and neat. Try invest in 3/8 they are very useful for everything. Good luck with your business

Want brand of 7/8" do you have? What colours do you need? If I have the same colours & brand I wouldn't mind selling you some...just like I'm sure most people on here wouldn't mind

I personally wouldn't if your intent is to sell them. It won't look very professional. I would invest in some. you can get some pretty good deals on ebay for 50 and 100 yard spools. You also can get 10 yard spools at walmart for 2.40 each.

Good Luck!

I personally wouldn't do it. I'd line my clip with 3/8" only. But I would use 7/8" for the center knot. In some cases chunky knots look very nice. Or you can fold it in half and make the know as s_hernandez402 said above. Good luck!

Thanks for the advice! The more I think about it, I'm going to need a good amount of 3/8" because I'm making korkers as well... So I just need to invest in some 3/8". I like the idea of the 7/8" for a larger center knot. But I agree with you all that using heat sealed 7/8" wouldn't be very professional for lining clips!
Thanks ladies for setting me straight! LOL

If you are going to do a lot of korkers and all look into ribbon at www.theribbonretreat.com and buy it wholesale. They have a $35 min. but I'm sure you can fill that easily.

That's where I've bought most of my ribbon, but I forgot about the wholesale site...duh!
Thanks for reminding me!

I LOVE chunky 7/8 center knots!!! And I agree, line your clips with 3/8 (some people don't line their clips, but I always do)
