and a $35 bow?! I have got to see that. I didn't think I would ever see a cheer bow more than $30 .. and I thought $20 was bad LOL and it is!!
$20 isnt bad if that is what people are willing to pay. Honestly my bows are alot of work and I pay myself atleast $10 for my labor.
I see cheer bows for $7-$10 and I wonder the profit margin on those given the labor involved.

I would only pay $20 if it had sequins or mystic fabric. Or a lot of layers.
Ive seen 2 layer bows for about 20 before, and I think thats ridiculous.
I prefer to make my own.

The bows I make are about 7 - 8 inches across the top. The one pictured in my DDs and friends photo was almost 9. The coach wanted them big with short tails. It didn't have any sequins in it, but it had 3" white base with a 1 1/2" gold and 1 1/2" white fused to it with a 7/8" garnet down the center. It sure was a whole lot of bow, but honestly even with all the product in it, I don't think I would have charged any more than $15 for it with some sequins. Since it was my DDs team, I did them for the cost of ribbon and supplies.

What other people charge is completely up to them. I guess I do not give us cheer bow makers enough credit. I see these beautiful boutique bows that members make on this site and think; "WOW, that is a beautiful bow!". Seems so much more difficult than a cheer bow.

Doing them at cost for your DD's team is one thing, but I think we all face the issue of how much to charge. Teams have approached me with their budget per bow and it is has varied from $15-25 for large multi layered bows, so I am not setting the prices.
I just think it isnt polite to question what other members are charging.

Not sure if I have offended you or not. I did not mean to imply that you over charged or was I even inquiring about what you charge for a bow. I simply said that I do not charge that much. And at no time did I poll the members inquiring about their pricing.

I too have seen what bows go for on cheer bow websites and know the work involved. I do not diminish the work that goes into creating a bow, I was just weighing in on the conversation.

Since cheer bows are the only thing I do when it comes to creating a bow, I only provide my views/tips/assistance on that topic.

At no time did I mean to be impolite to anyone. I apologize to you if you feel I was.

I have been reading this thread and I have to make 30 cheer bows. I was wondering what is typically the width of a cheer bow? Thanks for any help.

Typical? It depends on many factors.
1. Team preference? I always take samples to my teams to let them choose
2. Age? How old are the girls wearing the bows? What's appropriate for high school will be really big on elementary.
3. width of ribbon you're using 1.5", 2.5", 3"?

My "standard" is usually 6.5-7 inches at the widest part of the bow and 7 inch tails. 5 inch tails if they are wanting the tails short.
