Default Need Help with my bottlecaps!!!

I have just started making my bottlecaps, and they are starting to fall off the bows I put them on. I think it might have something to do with the liner they come with. How do you get that out so they stay put on the bows.

Thanks,

I need HELP!!!

I don't know how to get the rubber off, but you could use E6000 glue to glue the cap onto the bow. E6000 will hold just about anything together.

I think you drop the plain caps in boiling water then pull the liner out with needle nose pliers. One person stated that they heat them flat part down on a coffee pot or hot plate. HTH

You can remove the liner, but I don't know if it will help. I attach them to the bows with E6000 and they stay on just fine.

Once the caps have been resined, you are stuck with the liner. If they are regular caps and nothing has been done to them then the best way to remove the liners is with a coffee pot burner (the thing the glass pot sits on). Turn your coffee pot on and put a few caps on there. I like to wait about 5 seconds before placing the next one. I do this in a circle until I have about 4 on the burner plate. As I take the first one off then I replace it with another. I work my way around the pot in a circular motion replacing each one as I move along. The caps will be hot so it's best to have a washcloth in one hand while you are removing the liners. To get the liner out, use a small screwdriver and it should just pop out. If you leave the cap on the burner to long then it will start to melt into a gooey mess.

Hope that helps,

Cristi

How to remove the liner will depend on what kind of cap you have. Some can be removed usung the hot plate method, however I use a knife and get under the liner and pull it out in a lot less time from one of my suppliers. It just takes a second and I do about 20 at a time, then move on to the next step.
