I use tape - I'm a perfectionist, and was not satisfied with the results using hot glue. Tape gives you super smooth results, and I can reposition while I'm lining to appease my perfectionist tendencies Also, even with the 30mm snap clips, grosgrain lined ones still slipped out of my baby's fine hair when she was younger. I started using non-slip grip on my snap clips, and they hold amazingly well.

What kind of tape do you use and how do you do it if you don't mind sharing? Also How do you add the no slip grip? My clips don't close well after I add them...
Thanks!

i just went and looked you are using bigger ones with 5/8 ribbon those are even harder to get down i personally dont sell them, i use my 30mm for my babies and then i bump up to the 1 3/4 inch alligator with a no slip grip for the older girls,

Shanna[/QUOTE]

thanks shanna,

yes you are right i was using 57mm snap clips and 5/8 ribbon. I have made some boutique bows with the 5/8 ribbon on alligator clips and thought it would be cute to make matching snap clips with the same ribbon. - but i guess not right?!

For the no-slip grips, the Duck Hold-it tape will fit in a snap clip. I usually cut mine in strips for lining alligator clips but you can trim it a bit to fit the snap clips. It just peels and stick to the clip. Pretty easy.

If you don't want your clip to slide out, you can't line the back all the way up.

Here's a pic of mine. I used to line them all the way and they didn't work well (and were tough to line!) then I changed the way I do it and haven't had a problem since! I use High Temp Hot Glue.

Looking at the picture now (it's an older pic), I don't even line them that far up anymore (like the white one) I put ribbon just under the tip of the clip. Most of the clip shows on the underside, but they snap nice and tight now.

The only way to attach a bow to a small snap clip would be to finish the bow and then just glue it on. It's tricky to do it securely yet not have a mess of glue showing. There's just no way to wrap the centre knot around, the clip is too small.

I really hate making snap clips, but my customers love them

ok so i tried these with the double sided tape yesterday and was like woah this is easy... until i realised that since i am not lining my ribbon all the way up on the back, the tape will probably catch on hair from the other side of the clip since its not fully covered by the snap clip(holes in the snap clip), do you get what im saying? how do you remedy this?
