Default Boy's tie w/ elastic?

I had a great tute bookmarked and a month ago our power went out and fried our hard drive. Now of course I can't find the dumb thing--and yeah I tried to google it. Haven't found the tute yet. Anyone know of one? Instead of putting a tie clip on there, they just used like 1/4" elastic and tacked it onto the top part (the "knot" I call it). Can anyone help me??? My boys hate wearing their ties to church because the clip ties dig into their necks. Thanks to anyone who can help me out!!

pull out the clip on part, add a ribbon or something to slip the elastic through measure what you need in elastic and make it a little shorter, feed it through the ribbon and sew the ends together........
