Default Help--question regarding small pinwheels

I'd like to make some small pinwheel bows (2 inches or so across) with either 5/8 or 7/8 ribbon. Do you ladies use a template or freehand. I have no (i mean ZERO) interest in making big bows, layered bows or anything else because i KNOW that they wouldn"t go over here---therefore I definitely don't want to spend $30+ on templates with bells and whistles.
Any suggestions?

I free hand everything. I'm sure the templates are really helpful, but mine come out great. Just find some free instructions like girly things and other. There's a thread somewhere for instructions and use whatever ribbon you want. I like 1.5" for pinwheels so that's what I use.

I do everything freehand. BUT if you need to use a template then I'd suggest just making your own out of cardboard. Much better than spending some moolah on something you'll rarely use

I do use a template, but the cost was $0. LOL. I made my own template out of cardboard and use a sally clip (which I already had). Here's the instructions I used (someone else had posted these on here before):

I actually use 3/8 inch ribbon for my 2 inch pinwheels. They are pretty popular.
