Default How do I attach the bow? Help please!

I am having the hardest time EVER attaching my pinwheel bows to an alligator clip! I don't get what I am doing wrong, but they look awful and I end up with hot glue *everywhere*. When I try to put ribbon around the bow and wrap it around to the underneath of the alligator clip, it messes up the bow and makes everything look terrible. I am trying to make 2 inch pinwheels on lined alligator clips, can someone please explain how to do it? Or, if anyone knows of a good tutorial with pics that would be great too. I really need some help!!

Thanks!!

What you're doing sounds like what I do.
  • Line clip
  • glue bow on clip
  • glue end of center on underside of alli clip
  • Wrap around
  • Trim to right size & heat seal end
  • glue end on underside of alli clip
  • remove excess glue

If you want to show pics, I'd help troubleshoot. Maybe you're using too much glue? Are you using high temp glue? If you get tiny strings of hot glue all over, a hairdryer will make what you can't pick off disappear .

Thanks for the hairdryer tip! I am going to have to try that, I get glue everywhere!

I was thinking about getting a different kind of glue, I've seen people mention something that is supposed to be really strong, but I can't remember the name of it and have no clue where to get it. Any suggestions? What do you all use on your bows?

I tie my bows to the alligator clip as well...I use a clothes pin to hold the alligator clip open as I tie and attatch the middle of the bow and then i also wrap the remainder of the ribbon from the Alligator clip over top. Sometimes I do just glue the clip to the back of the bow...but living in Guam...alot of times our glue comes undone because of the heat. Wish i had a remedy for that one!
