I sew my tutu's too...I used to do the knotted ones but I didn't like the stiffness of the waistband when I did them..I could have been doing it wrong but I would rather sew them then knot them any day! I thread covered elastic through a casing as well, that way it stretches easily...I've attached a picture of my daughter in one of my sewn tutu's

That is such a beautiful tutu! I understand how yours is sewn and the top would look differant covered in satin with a casing. Its the people who say they are sewn but the top looks JUST LIKE a tied tutu that I dont get.
