Default Alligator clip question ...

Okay this may be a silly question from a newbie
I just noticed that the clips look a little different depending on which side you use as the top of the clip. Is there a "right" side of the clip? I have attached a pic. The one in the back seems like the way most of you do it? Or is the front one, I don't know! When lying flat, the back one sits higher up on one side. The other one just looks a little flat.
I have lined a few clips and stuck some on bows and never noticed this, I just grab the clip and stick it on the bow. Does it matter which side is the top or bottom?

The clip in the front is what I do... The bow does on top of the front clip. Never even considered doing it the other way. Now I'm confused.

I use it the way in the front most often, but for flowers or some bows, I use the clip like pictured in the back

I just thought I saw some lined clippies for sale like the one in the back so I thought that was the norm, but I don't know! Apparently there is a difference though, don't know how I never noticed until now

I ALWAYS use it like the wya in the front. I sometimes find it annoying though because it changes the way the bow looks or is in the way. I never even considered doing it the other way!?! Hmmmmm...
