I have always used hot glue but do not like the way you can not get it totally smooth~~ So this is my question:

What is the best tape to use and where can you get it??

The best tape is either Sealah brand or Specialty Tape brand. There is a group buy happening right now for the latter - look under GROUP BUYS section. Sealah can be purchased at http://www.jodeesinc.com/ but it is a bit more expensive than Specialty tape. They are both excellent, but you should reinforce at the end with a bit of hot glue or e6000. That is what I do. HTH!

The other tapes like Terrifically Tacky tape and ones like that are not meant for anything other than paper and scrapbooking. They have no hold on ribbon and metal.

I have ordered the tape from the group buy, but I have been using the TerrificallyTackyTape and really like that also.

Is there a place to buy it without a group buy? I really do not like to them.

You can buy Sealah from their website. I also really like Terriffically Tacky tape. You can get small rolls from the scrapbooking section in Walmart or Michaels. I have found larger rolls at a local art restoration supply store.

But honestly the best tape is the specialty tape.

Can I ask why you have trouble getting it not to be bumpy when you use hot glue, I have always used it and never had trouble....perhaps you are either not using enough or too much??? Are you using a REALLY HOT melt glue gun??

Yes I am using a hot glue gun. It is fine with the grosgrain but the satin always looks bumpy!
