I use a woodburner to cut and seal in one step. I just started using that and it's the greatest thing ever. SO quick. I personally don't like using a candle, because you can get black soot marks on the ribbon pretty easily if you get it too close or the flame flickers unexpectedly.
I was just going to ask how everyone ends theirs when I posted last but I hit the "submit" button too quickly. I HATE the raw ends and was thinking there had to be someway to fold the last ribbon over to make it nice and finished looking. Thanks for posting...going to check your tutorial right now.

Great tutorial!! LOVE the pictures. Thanks so much for posting the link. I finished everything to the back and of course with raw edges. I can't wait to try this...maybe tonight Still want that woodburner though...as a matter of fact I have one somewhere...but like everything else...it's easier to go buy a new one than try to find the one that I have

I use a woodburner also. It does take a little practice but you will get good at it quickly. I use a pice of glass with a 1/4 inch grid underneat it to measure smaller pieces. I also use a metal ruler. I bought it with a 40% off coupon at Michaels.

I use both. I use the woodburner when I have a large amount of work to do and a lighter when I only have a few things. Be careful, though.....the woodburner is HOT, HOT, HOT. If you touch it, your skin instantly smells like bacon (well, maybe it doesn't smell as good as bacon, but definately smells charred)
