I was having this very same problem last night! I have redone the headband at least 5 times and it still keeps happening no matter what I do.

How do you twist it without ruining the whole thing?

I just finished one that was giving me a lot of grief. I reglued the start and made sure that it was centered well so that the very 1st outer triangles were evenly sized- does that make sense? Then as I went along if they start to look uneven twist as you go and lots of clips along the way so it stays. It turned out pretty well and I'm finally finished- prob. took me a few hrs. total but hopefully they will get easier with practice!

also - if you use an alligator clip after every few weaves, it will keep it in place. make sure you are using the same amount of tension on the whole thing,

Once I go through the 4 steps and I'm back to having 2 ribbons on each side of the headband, I use that as an opportunity to even things out and make any adjustments needed. I don't ever have to use clips to hold into place. I just always take the time to "straighten up" once I get back to having 2 ribbons on each side. HTH.
