Oh wow.....pretty amazing.
Here is a picture of a hat I made last winter. I was selling on Ebay for a few years and made these.
I did other styles too. I just happened to have the picture on my desktop because my daughter asked me if I would make some for Camryn now.
I didn't use a pattern for mine. Just cut fleece and started sewing.
They are so cute and the little girls just love them!!

That particular one I used some fun yarn I had. Lion brand makes some really cool yarns, like fun fur, funfetti and some others.
The most fun part of making these hats is creating the trims. Almost anything works and the funkier the better!

the one in the OP, I would make the quilted fabric first, it is like a crazy quilt, you would use the fleece as the backing, then cut the pattern out of the quilted fabric you make and have at it!!

I love the fun yarns from Lion. I made some scarves for the girls 2 years in a row and they loved them. They were all knitting so it was a fast and easy project for me to put together.
