Default Kinder, gentler woodburner - does it exist?

Specifically, I'm looking for a hot knife that's not so hot. A woodburner is very hot and the temperature can't be regulated.

Any ideas? Has anyone ever tried one of the Clover Mini-Irons?

I have one, but I haven't tried it for sealing ribbon. I don't know if it would get hot enough.

I'm trying to melt together the ends of polyester tubing, the kind you see around headbands in dollar stores. Factories are assuring me that poly WILL melt together, but my woodburner is so hot that the ends just burn up. They say I need a tool with a lower temperature.

what you do is wipe your wood burner on a wet cloth before sealing this drops the temp of the wood burner to a less "burning more melting temp"

the irons will not seal ribbon or poly they are designed to apply decals and appliques

I have two wood burners. One heats up to only like 600 and the other heats up to over 900. Maybe try one that does not heat up as much?

I got the only one the local hobby store carries. Maybe it's made for professionals? 'Cause, man... this thing cooks!

Looking for a beginner model...
