Default Korkers

I am going to attempt to make a Korker bow. I just had one question. I have seen some peoples korker bows look kinda flat and not very cute and others are really full like a ball and are adorable. What are they doing different? Not using enough ribbon? Using ribbon pieces that are too long? Not starching the korker ribbon? What do you think?

Jess

Hi Jess--I'm no expert, but I do not starch mine...and they are a bit limp...so If I were going to try again, I would starch them--I think that is what makes them hold that puffy shape...I have also been told to use about 20-30 pieces. I hope that helps!

I starch mine and use anywhere between 30-50 pieces of ribbon in mine. They are nice and poofy

I use the L brackets, starch, and use about 30 peices. Mine are really full and look like a ball- but they are smaller. I just like them that way

What are you ladies tying your korkers with. The one I made for my DD turned out SO cute......until she pulled some pieces out!
I know some of you sew them together, do you put each piece on a needle and then when your done, wrap the thread around a few times or do you tie it like normal them run a needle through it a few time.?

Hi, I use elastic cord, the kind that they use to tie shoes together at the store so that they don't lose a pair. I also use at least 30 - 40 2" pieces and my bows turnout pretty fluffy. After I tie it, I pull the ends, slowly and carefully to make it look even OR I just trim the ends with sharp scissors. When I finally like the way it looks, I use a stiffener (sp?) spray I bought at Michael's to keep the shape. I hope this helps.
