Default How long to cut the ribbon for a partially lined clip?

I just started to partially line the clips and cutting all lengths to find the perfect length for the partial lining - so what is the length I should be cutting the ribbon???
Thanks!

I do 4 1/2". I like the ribbon to end just before the open part on the bottom of the clip. Hth!

I am just curious....how did you used to do your alligator clips if you never lined them before? Thanks!

I do mine just under 4.25". I always line mine upside down, though, so the one end isn't bumping up the flower or bow on one end. So the flower/bow is attached on the totally FLAT side of the alligator clip.

I've heard of people doing this, but I was wondering -- doesn't that feel uncomfortable on the head? I was thinking the part that sticks up would stick into your head...

Oh and I also push it in the squeeze part. And I did try it on my own head before doing mine "upside down" and I didn't have any problems with it and I have a tender head. My daughter has an even MORE tender head and she's never complained about it--I checked with her and she says they feel fine on her head. She has, however, told me when I've done her ponytail or pigtails too tight. So I'd definitely hear it from her

I also line mine "upside down" so that the flat part is against the bow!
