I use the Gator Bite to tie individual sections (bow, spikes, etc) with tread crochet yard and then tie them all together before attaching to a clip. I haven't had any to pull apart. I am not a needle/thread expert and I just have not found it necessary to glue my sections together when I tie them all securely. HTH.
