Default What matertial do you use to tie your bows?

For those of you who tie your bow (versus sewing) what type of thread do you use? Somewhere I had read about using elastic thread but when I tried to use it and pulled tight it to get my creases it kept breaking. I then tried some curling ribbon I had laying around which worked okay although I think there probably something better I could be using. Thanks for your help.

I use organza ribbon. I have heard people using the curling ribbon have had great results. I have also used waxed dental floss too if I am out of the other

I do both depending on what type of bow I'm making. For the ones I tie I use the cotton crochet yarn that's sold at walmart. In every walmart that I've been to it's on the bottom shelf where the yarn is. It's almost like string and is pretty inexpensive. For others I use the button thread, go through the center of the bow, wrap, pull and tie off

I usually use elastic beading cord, not that thin elastic that you can sew with. I find it out Walmart in the sewing section. I have also used the 1/4 or 3/8 organza ribbon and it works really well too.

Thanks ladies. That was very helpful. I think I will try a variety of those.

I have been using the embroidery thread as well! It's works well. I was using the organza ribbon prior to the thread, but ran out! I loved it because it was easier to pull tight without killing your fingers! I think I'm going to try the cotton crochet yarn next. That is a great idea!

I have used all of things mentioned, but I prefer the waxed dental floss. I have never had it break, and I like that it ties so tight, and doesn't come loose, and it's much easier on my hands.

I use the crochet yarn / string too and love it!! Super cheap for a huge roll and for me it's easier to cover with my center knot than organza!!
