I wish I could help but I haven't gotten into this yet. I want to watch this thread though because my MIL has an embroidery business and I would love for her to monogram stuff for me.

Hi there!
I have only embroidered on ribbon a few times, but it was pretty easy. I hooped my stabilizer (I think I used water soluble, but you could also use a sticky back tear away). Then pin the ribbon to the top of the stabilizer with your design area centered. My machine has a little feature to check sort of trace around the the area that will be sewn, so I run that just to make sure it is centered. Then put the presser foot down and go.

I also belong to SewForum and this tutorial shows how another person embroidered on ribbon.

here is a link to one of my bows. I also use the 7/8" ribbon.

I always use tear away stabilizer on the bottom and nothing on the top. Just make sure you DO NOT pull the ribbon tight. just put it in the hoop and make sure it's straight.

How much extra can you charge for a bow if you monogram it?
