Default starch question.

I am wondering how many people starch 1 1/2" ribbons when they makes bows...?
Do you starch before or after they are tied?
What is the procedure for starching?
Is there a preferred product?
Thanks. There is so much good info here...I hope to contribute useful info some time!

I just starched my first big bow tonight. And all I can say is WOW! You have GOT to starch! It POPS the bow- exactly the way I want it. I didn't have to stuff with tissues to hold it in place this time- but I do have a "limpy" bow that I will stuff tomorrow.

I use the basic starch from Walmart- in the laundry section. Then I spray with flowery smell hair spray. (just a little though)

I just use hairspray to stiffen it instead of starch -- no particular brand just whatever is on sale!

HTH

I had a bow that the other day that had a crease in it so I took my BIG curling iron and put my ribbon in it and rolled it around a couple of times and it took the wrinkle out and I sprayed it with hairspray and it looks brand new LOL!!
