Default jump ring and ribbon necklace ?

When making bottlecap necklaces what size jump ring do you use?

If you use ribbon necklaces do you put the jump ring on all 3 cords and the ribbon necklace?

If you use a ribbon necklace it is MUCH better to use a split ring instead of a jump ring. The jump ring will come off. LOL I learned this the hard way when I made 40 ribbon necklaces for my nieces bday party to give to all the pretty princesses. Needless to say about 15 minutes into the jum house, 4 girls coming flying out saying "my cap came off and I can't find it anywhere". There I was searching everywhere. I was so embarrased lol. So, now I only use a split ring. The split ring that I use for my ribbon necklaces (they have the cord and 2 ribbons) is a 9mm!

HTH,

Cristi

I agree. Use the split rings, but make sure that you have the split ring tool to put them on the bottlecaps with. You will SURELY become frustrated quickly if you don't have one! LOL

split ring has to be 9mm for ribbon necklaces. Make sure if you order caps from others that they use 9mm, if not you will have to add them. I have ordered from other HG's and many use 6mm so I just order with no holes or rings and I add them when I get them in.

i've never heard about a tool . . . just googled it.

is this what you're talking about? http://www.artbeads.com/howtousespri.html

it sure looks a lot easier than using a fingernail

edit . . . here's the product link http://www.artbeads.com/tool-103.html

and there's this one - not sure how this one works http://www.artbeads.com/tool-513.htm...d#BVRRWidgetID

what size crimp bead do you use? When talking about three cords are you talking about three seperate bibbons put together to make one necklace or are there actual cornds that you use? I'm trying to get my daughter into making ribbon necklaces and I haven't found any detailed instructions on what is needed or how to make them.
