I hate to say that is a little dangerous. The holes they are using to attach the pacifier are air-holes that go at the top of the mouth under the nostrils so the baby doesn't suffocate. There has got to be a better way.

The soothie pacifier that my daughter uses does not cover her nose. IMO the way I do it is better than the soothie paci holders b/c they cover more of her face than my way does. Whenever I put the paci in her mouth it is turned so that the pony-o is down by her chin. She does not go to sleep with her paci clip attached.

The soothie brand paci holders are pretty big. My daughter would almost never let me use one, so we have lost a LOT of binkies. I don't think that little ribbon would block too much of the airhole. I don't think I've ever seen the binkie go up to her nose even when she was a newborn. It might be more of an issue with preemies since they are so tiny.

For the soothie brand the 'handle' on the binkie goes into the hole on the holder. It ends up being about the size of two binkies lined up.
