Default WoodBurning Kit

Okay, I really want to get a woodburning kit to seal my hairbows. I have always used clear nail polish but it tends to get the little lint or whatever you want to call it and then starts clumping up.

They don't have ANY on island so i was wondering if anyone knows of a good place i can buy online. Walmart is too expensive to ship and takes like 2 months to get here and Michaels doesn't seem to offer shipping. I want a good but cheap one cause I only make bows for friends and family.

Where do you live? I could pick one up and mail it (of course you'd have to pay for it . Let me know.

I looked at Ebay, but I didn't look at the supply section under etsy.

I live on Guam.

I don't know what one you are looking at, but make sure it heats hot enough. I bought one when I first started and I liked it, but the residue that was left behind would get black and gooey, and leave marks on my ribbon. People told me just to let it sit for a few minutes and the residue would burn off. But it never did.

When my puppy chewed the plug off mine, I went looking for a new one. The original I had heated to something like 650. The new one heats to something over 900. I don't have any problems with the black residue now. Hope that helps

Where did you find your new one at? I am having the same problem with mine. I actually have to take an SOS pad and clean mine that way. I use the shaft of mine more than the tip.

Keep a damp sponge near buy and run the tool tip across each time before sealing ends then you will not have black marks on your ribbon. HTH
Ebay has woodburning tools for 10.00

I got both at Michaels. The first one had a teal / blue handle. The second one has a dark green handle. Because of the experience with the first one, I really looked at the others more closely when I went to buy a new one. That is when I realized there was a temp difference. I have no problems with the second one (except for the fact that the puppies chewed that one up also! UGGHHH!) They are both made by Walnut Hollow, but I really like the green one.

Hope that helps some.

I keep a pad of plain steel wool beside my tool and wipe the tip with it after each use. No gunk and the wool is flame resistant!
