Default Question RE: Making Custom Hair Bow Cards - Slits ...

Hi there,

Can anyone share with me their tips/tricks to putting slits
in their bow cards?

I have been cutting slits with a wheel knife, but they are
never accurate.

Any suggestions? Please let me know. I have to make
650 of them for an upcoming school craft show and I
want to do them correctly.

Is there a punch at a craft store?

Thanks in advance !!!!1

I just use a regular one hole punch, punch a hole in the middle of the card and slide the clip through the hole.

I just use an exacto knife and slit it down the center. I can whip through a couple hundred in minutes.
I do the same with the bows at the shop. I don't put tags on my cards at craft shows since a made a comment about how much cardboard stock paper I use and the planet...etc....lol

Hi, Yes there is a punch at the store. I bought mine in the scrapbook section of Hobby Lobby with my coupon so it was under 3 dollars. Hope this helps.

I just use my paper cutter....I haven't tried the hole punch (except for my pony o's) - sometimes it won't go as far into the center as I want.....

I've been really happy with my paper cutter so pretty much stick to that.

Hope you find something that works!

I can tell you from experience that people have no interest in what the card looks like. I just use a box cutter knife and cut 2 slits in the middle of the card.

I have been using cards from vista print, but, I have learned that the card doesnt matter, sure it is great to give your info on, but most of the time, they rip the bow from the card, and trash the card!

I prefer the long reach ribbon punch. It looks like two teeny rectangles and was actually intended for cardmaking so ribbon can be woven in the paper. It works great. Alligator pinch clips slide right through both holes. For french clips, I punch once then reposition just 1/4" lower and punch again to make slightly larger openings that way it will clip into the card without tearing. HTH!

I love using my paper trimmer (fiskers)-slide it in and put the blade down where you want it to start and lift where you want it to finish. I can do them on my lap ; )

a friend of mine had a punch that she got from a scrapbooking store--not sure what the name of it is, but I believe it used to make cuts to hold the corner of pictures in place. It makes a half circle slice--not a punch. I have looked at hobby lobby and michaels, but cant find one anywhere! It worked so good and looked easy!

I use a paper trimmer and slice a small slit in the center of the card.
