That type would worry me too - I know when I try to heat seal the end with a lighter, those "painted on" spots seem to catch fire or turn black instead of melting like the rest of the ribbon.

I'll try reducing the temp! I also found out the hard way that you bake before using any hot glue. How stupid was that?????
