Default If you make Fabric covered buttons...

I'm new to fabric covered buttons and was hoping you gals could help me out on diameters. I'm looking into printing our school's circular crest onto fabric at spoonflower.com to use to make pony-os.
I'm trying to figure out how big the cut circle of fabric needs to be... If I'm trying to cover size 60 buttons (1.5 inches) the circle design on the face of the button will be about 1.25 inches across, then how big does the total circle of fabric need to be (including the part that gets folded under the back plate) I'm thinking 2.5 inches across?

I guess an easier way of asking would be how much excess fabric do you need to wrap around the back and secure the botton? TIA

I'm not sure and I don't have a package here, but I *think* if you look on the back of a package (of the dritz brand) it gives you a template for the fabric circle that you'll need to cut. I think that a 2.5" circle would be plenty big for a 1.5" button, but that's just a guesstimate.

Good luck!

There's an Etsy seller, http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id...ion_id=6268782, who sells fabric button templates. They're awesome because there's a hole in the middle so you can see what the finished button will look like. I bought every size she has and it has helped SO much with figuring out what size fabric to cut.

For the fabric size, my button cover package says 75 for a 60. I'm assuming that's cm and diameter.

I am a member of Fabriholics Anon. and she does great fabric buy and other buys as well. She just did a buy on these and I think she will have extra and you can get them a little cheaper. If you want an invite to the group send me your email address to [email protected] There is an Andover Buy going on right now as well. Hope to see you there!
