Unhappy Cheer bow help

Whenever I try to make a cheer bow, the tails come out so they are straight down, not at an angle and uneven. What am I doing wrong?

Pulling it to tight too fast, pull it more slowly

Are you sewing or tying it?

When you say tying it, do you mean knoting it?

Some ppl use embroidery floss and tie rather than sew

Since you sew it can a couple of things
  • you are pulling it too fast, pull it slower and sorta shape as you pull

  • You are taking too many stitches up the middle, only do about 4 evenly spaced stitches

  • You are pulling your stitches TOO TIGHT, dont pull them as tight and see what happens
Hope one of these helps

i think this is what you mean: align your ribbon like the first picture, and not like the second. the wider the x, the bigger the angle. HTH

This is what happened with my first couple bows. I made an EXTRA wide figure 8, so that when I cinched it up, when the tails ended up just right, instead of straight down.

Sorry....I meant "awareness ribbon". When I make the awareness ribbon shape....I spread the tails out really wide, too wide, so that when I sew up through and cinch and they end up just right.
