For anyone who makes and sells items for children 12 and younger no matter where you sell it. It's the CPSIA law that was enacted. I'm just hoping it's appealed before February when the testing is enforced!!!

I guess I missed the whole labeling the packaging with the DOM

I really like your stamp idea - may have to copy it!
Too bad I just placed my vistaprint order. Shipping sucks! Guess they have to cover their "free" stuff

At the bottom of that link it states this...

Small volume manufacturers and crafters may be unlikely to use lot, batch or run
numbers, and, again, the Commission does not interpret Section 103(a) to require them to
create such a system. Nevertheless, reasonable practices should be in place by such
manufacturers to keep records of components used in their products.

What do you interpret from that. Just want to see if i am understanding it correctly

Ok, ladies, those of you that already do labeling, can you please share how you code each of your bows? There are so much ribbon and so much appliques that I am getting lost....
I have a show in September, but afraid to go because I am not ready with the labeling requirements.
So, please, anyone, help me out!!!!!

To me it means that we don't need to include lot/batch numbers on our labels. But that if a item was brought back to us and asked about we need to know exactly what was used and where it came from. How you do that is up to you. I started a notebook.

I don't make as much inventory, most of my items are made to order and at this time I"m just keeping a notebook and writing it in as I make them. Still trying to figure out a way to code everything so it makes sense and my record keeping can be easy to understand atleast by me!!! LOL!

THank you Wendy. What about all those aplicues and ribbon that we buy from each other?
I have tons of printed ribbon and it came from everywhere, and I have no clue how to code it.
I was thinking like using first letters. Like say I did pink korkers. K-korker, G-grosgrain ribbon, 002 pink, AL- alligator clip. So the code would be kind like K-G-002-AL
But thats was easy. What if korker has 4 colors of ribbon? ANd if its printed? ANd the boutique bows with lots of printed ribbon?
I have a headache!!! lol

This is a very helpful site if you are not familiar with the new laws.
http://www.whatisthecpsia.com/?cat=38

All items for children under 12 are required to be labeled with a permanent label, if the item is too small then the packaging must be labeled. This is in effect now, and all bow makers, tutu makers and crafters of children's items must comply.

Labels must include
company name
contact information (a website is not enough)
location made (city & state)
date made
and your tracking number which will tell you what materials you used in this paticular item and where it came from
